Discussion topic: Is punishment or rehabilitation better for reducing crime?
-While there may be some individuals who cannot be rehabilitated, the majority of people can be helped in some way or another
-What does incarceration truly achieve? Further traumatization, Social exclusion and ostracization, Drain on community resources
-Robust mental health evaluation and support upon entry into the legal system as well as continuing to destigmatize those who have mental health conditions
-Programs focused on healing BOTH the victim and perpetrator of crimes
-Crime prevention must go hand in hand with post crime response: People who have their basic needs met (ie: fed, housed, clothed, bathed) are far less likely to commit crimes where as a starving person will fight for resources
-The goal is to live the most humane life possible

What can we do under the current system as we work towards building a better one?
-Get involved in local politics. Vote, Call/Email/badgering representatives, attending town hall meetings.
-Encourage and educate others on voting
-Help drive people to the polls who might not otherwise have a way to get there
-If someone is resistant to voting start a dialog on why
-Researching candidates as a group to divide and conquer the work load
-Find local Organizations or corporations that have the funds and willingness to uplift our community
